Kingdom Vision Night Letter 2027 (DRAFT)

Dear Leaders,

I'm not sure if you recall my question from earlier this year during the fast, so allow me to ask it again, "Are we okay, if the church grows while the city dies?" And ever since then, I've been wondering what the Lord wants me to do with that answer.

So this is what I need you for. I need you to help me in answering that question with real solutions for our church moving into 2027. You can do that by scheduling this night on your calendar.

Let me just be upfront with you. The word the Lord has given me for 2027 is kingdom.

What I want out of that word is an anthem, something that when you hear it, it reminds you of our purpose.And here's the anthem I believe the Lord has given me.

"In Harrison as it is in Heaven."

I'm pretty sure most people will understand it as soon as they hear it. It's something we've phrased since we've been kids: "Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10. We've prayed it at grave sites. We've prayed it at sports events. We've taught our kids how to quote the Lord's Prayer. But what I wonder is, if we've prayed it so long that we've quit hearing what we're actually asking for.

Because to me, that prayer is a request for territory. If the will of God is carried out in heaven without an argument or a delay, what does that same will look like carried out here in Harrison? Just imagine all the things that happen in heaven that we fail to see here in Harrison.

How many broken marriages do we see in heaven?
How many fatherless kids do we see in heaven?
How many people are striving to enter the Lord's rest in heaven?
How many women are exhausted in heaven?
How many families have prioritized things that will pass away over the eternal in heaven?

I would say to us, the kingdom is real. It just isn't near. But October 4th is where we focus on how to bring it near.

So before you enter that room on October 4th, I'm asking you to wrestle this out at home. What does the kingdom of God look like in your ministry? What does it look like with your volunteers? In your budget? What does your ministry look like in 2027 if the kingdom comes near in a way it hasn't yet? What's actually going to be different?

That's the wrestle I want you to have before you show up to hear the larger spectrum of things.

I believe we're standing at a pivot. A pivot keeps one foot planted while the other one turns. The planted foot is this body and its health. The turning foot is our attention, out toward a city that mostly doesn't know the King has a throne, much less that the throne is close enough to matter on a Thursday. I believe we're standing at a pivotal moment. Now, if you remember back in high school, a pivot is where one foot is planted while the other one turns. I think for us, that planted foot is this body and its health as it continues to grow, as the Lord has blessed us. But the turning foot is our attention, our focus, and it goes out towards a city that mostly doesn't know there's even a kingdom at all, much less that the kingdom has come.

What I need from you

Tell us your childcare needs when you RSVP. Give us the number of children and their ages so we can staff it right.
Pray between now and then. I'm asking for something specific: ask the Lord what the kingdom of God looks like in your ministry, and write down what He gives you. Come with it in your hand.
Bring your 2027 dates. Anything already on your calendar or anything you know you want to protect.
Come ready to receive your budget and calendar packet. You'll leave that night with last year's budget, an activity report, a budget versus actuals, a calendar request form, and a budget template. Everything is due back to Cindy by [DATE TO CONFIRM]. That return date is what feeds the board budget, so it doesn't have much give in it.
Come hungry and come early. Dinner is at 5:00. Your time matters to me so we'll start on time.

We don't want to just pray the Lord's Prayer, we want to bring the kingdom down. That's the goal. What we teach them here becomes beneficial out there.
